Regent Street Cinema is the UK’s earliest independent cinema and showed moving picture for the first time in 1896. It closed to become part of the University of Westminster, but after a three-year renovation project the venue reopened in May 2015, reinstating one of the most historic cinemas in Britain to its former grandeur.
