Ready to welcome our next new statue?
We’re thrilled to reveal plans for the tenth statue soon to be joining Scenes in the Square in Leicester Square, London’s home of film.
The King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, alongside co-star Kajol, will be unveiled in Spring 2021 and will be the first ever Bollywood statue erected in the UK.
The statue will shine a spotlight on two Bollywood megastars from one of the most successful Bollywood films of all time. Depicting a scene from the timeless and multi award-winning rom-com, Diwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra.
Filled with nostalgic scenes of Leicester Square from over 25 years ago, the film, often dubbed the Romeo & Juliet of Bollywood cinema, is a must-watch about two-non resident Indians, Raj and Simran, and their a star-crossed love story across Europe and India, beginning on a train from King’s Cross Station.
Plus, we’re hoping to welcome the stars, Khan and Kajol, to unveil the statue in a special show of celebration. Be the first to know and follow us on social media!
So, what are you waiting for?
Get ready to go barmy for Bollywood’s brilliant statue as part of the Scenes in the Square film trail.
