New release: Shoplifters (15)

After one of their shoplifting sessions, Osamu and his son come across a little girl in the freezing cold. At first reluctant to shelter the girl, Osamu’s wife agrees to take care of her after learning of the hardships she faces.

Full of emotion and characters of unassuming depth, this superb family drama is worthy of your viewing time. From the creators of Korean drama (Kore-eda), Nobody Knows, the film won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2018.

New release: The Favourite

Watch the latest movie release from Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos. A delightful, witty and physical comedy.

It’s the early 18th Century, England is fighting the French. Queen Anne, played by Olivia Coleman is in poor health. Vying for the Queen’s affections is her devoted friend, Lady Sarah, played by Rachel Weisz, and Lady Sarah’s cousin, Abigail played by Emma Stone.

What follows is a riotous game of one-up-womanship, directed with a fierce, pacy intelligence by Lanthimos.

At the centre of this wickedly amusing tale are the three powerhouse performances from Weisz, Stone and, especially, Colman, who won the Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for her uproarious portrayal of Queen Anne.

A must see movie for 2019. Book your tickets online here.
